Future Goals

What I Do

I am responsible for construction management to realize projects that bring joy to local residents.
With a particular focus on safety management and schedule control, I ensure construction proceeds safely and according to plan by confirming the appropriate placement of heavy machinery and workers, verifying detailed work procedures, and conducting regular site inspections. For quality control, I manage everything from concrete mix design to strength verification consistently on-site, striving to maintain quality standards through participation in various inspections with consultants.
Approximately 90 workers are engaged on-site, including third-country nationals from the Philippines and Sri Lanka. In this environment where people of diverse nationalities collaborate on a single site, communication is essential for building a safe workplace that overcomes language and cultural differences. Starting with safety education for local workers, the entire site works daily toward the goal of zero accidents and zero incidents.

Motivation

The greatest reward in this job is completing structures that bring joy to local residents. The small hydropower plant we built in Vanuatu in the past contributed to regional development and is still appreciated by the community today. With the second small hydropower plant currently under construction, I personally feel a sense of mission and fulfillment in creating a valuable legacy for future generations. Every day, I realize this is not just construction work, but meaningful work that contributes to the future of the local community.
Furthermore, facing various challenges on-site allows me to tangibly improve my construction management skills and enhance my problem-solving abilities. By applying my expertise in practice and accumulating experience, I feel my skills as an engineer growing daily. I take pride in my work as a civil engineer, knowing that the techniques and experience cultivated on-site directly contribute to creating better structures.

Future Goals

My primary goal moving forward is to pursue technical growth and enhance my expertise. Building upon the experience gained from the current small hydropower plant construction project in Vanuatu, I aim to master more advanced construction management techniques. My objective is to become an engineer capable of reliably ensuring quality and safety even in complex and challenging sites. Using my Vanuatu experience as a stepping stone, I intend to accumulate global construction management experience. By engaging in construction projects across different countries and regions, I aim to encounter diverse technologies and cultures, growing into an engineer with an international perspective.

How I spend my day off

Vanuatu is a popular tourist destination with many attractions. Snorkeling and diving in its crystal-clear waters are especially effective at relieving the fatigue of daily work, refreshing both mind and body. I myself obtained my scuba diving license while there. The beachside restaurant serves delicious local cuisine.
