The Project for the Disaster Reconstruction of Teouma Bridge (Republic of Vanuatu) Notice of Start of Construction

The groundbreaking ceremony was held for The Project for the Disaster Reconstruction of Teouma Bridge that we are constructing in Republic of Vanuatu.

The Republic of Vanuatu is an island nation of 83 islands in the South Pacific.
The Teouma Bridge is part of the outer ring road of Efate Island, where the capital Port Vila is located, and spans the Teouma River, the largest river in the island.

This project is constructing the bridge and rehabilitating the approach road to the site, which was damaged by the cyclone in March 2015 and has been temporarily rehabilitated, but is at risk of serious impact during future flooding.

The Ground Ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Vanuatu, the Deputy PM and Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Infrastructure and Public Works, the Ambassador of Japan to Vanuatu, and the Director of the JICA Branch Office.

The ceremony was reported in the local newspaper.
